Restaurant review - The Living Room @ Westin Sohna

I got fascinated by The Living Room restaurant's pictures on Westin Sohna's website. My experience of The Living Room is a good one during my stay at Westin Sohna. Since a lot had to be described about it, I had to write a separate post on it.

Ambiance at The Living Room

The Living Room had a grand entrance unlike restaurants of other resorts and hotels. Tables were laid outside the restaurant as well with a view of resort and lush green lawns. Lavish spread of buffet was displayed including Indian and Oriental. Salad and dessert counters were enticing.
I loved the sight of desserts that were displayed. Desserts were placed in the bar lounge. This segregation ensured that a vast variety of desserts is served to all guests. I liked this segregation which demonstrated the importance laid at desserts by Chef and team. Also, this divides the crowd and makes having desserts a special affair.

A place for destination vacation- Westin Sohna

I had heard a lot about Westin Sohna Resort and Spa and wished to experience it since long but was not able to get an opportunity. I went there last weekend and realised how vast and lovely the property was ! It was one of its kind with a grand entrance! We had to take lots of turns and curves to reach the property which I always like as it increases my curiosity to reach the property while giving a feel about the amount of strategic thinking gone in building the entrance. Once we reached there it was like a destination in its own. I had gone with my family.

As we entered, there were golf carts waiting and guests were passing by. Our luggage was taken care of and we started to explore the property by foot. After having sumptuous lunch at Multi cuisine restaurant - The Living Room,  we entered our villa which was a perfect combination of modernity and eco friendliness! Entrance had a drawing room with comfortable sofa, big TV screen, table, study , bar area, refrigerator and coffee maker!

Why would I stay at Grand Dragon Hotel Ladakh

Ladakh is one of my 'to visit' destinations of the world! I so wish to be there as soon as possible! Everytime I visit a travel and hospitality trade event, I make it sure to visit booths of Ladakh.  I want to see the natural beauty which I have heard is spectacular! Culture , traditions, food , climate, shopping and so much more to explore! Most of the times, I keep reading about hotels there. Recently, authorities from Grand Dragon Hotel contacted me and I was so glad to read about their property.

So, whenever I visit Ladakh, I would love to stay there. Grand Dragon Hotel is the first world class property in the area. This property has raised the bar for hospitality industry in the area. Although I have not visited the property myself, but it seems promising for luxury travellers.

Why would I stay at Grand Dragon Hotel Ladakh?

  1. Being a luxury lover, I want to experience the same at the so called 'roof of the world'!
  2. Its easily accessible being only minutes away from airport and is located at the central place in the area
  3. Since I want to feel like local, I want to stay in a property that is dream child of Ghulam Mustafa, the first modern artist of Ladakh whose paintings are inspired by ancient Ladakhi architecture and culture

Secret sauce revealed - Content Marketing Summit Asia 2017

Content is the key, Secret sauce to success is content, I hear many such proverbs since the time I have started writing! Although I have been reading a lot, but more is less . I would say in this field! So, as I got an opportunity to attend the Content Marketing Summit Asia 2017 at Westin Gurgaon, I didn't want to miss. There were some great speakers coming from across the world and brands who were supposed to talk about content.

My inclination was towards travel content speaker and latest trends that brands were following to get more and more audiences attached to their brands. The event was presented by Sirez and is Powered By LinkedIn. I attended full session by Myntra Group. As per the speaker, storytelling x strong human insights= blockbuster content. Right influencers at right time can drive 5x effectiveness. Storytelling is the key. She shared that if content is good, people will see it. As an example, there was an ethnic brand for modern Indian women. They played a digital add showcasing that beauty is about taking bold decisions. Powerful content markets itself. Credible influencers and celeb associations also drive a lot of engagements.
As per the Lauren Quaintance, Co-Founder and Head of Content, Storyation, context makes all the difference. User friendly, inspiring and timely content makes all the difference. There has to be a connection with consumers to inspire to take a trip.

Top 11 things to do in Hill Stations

Think of Hill stations , think of greenery, mountains, fresh air, cool breeze and high spirited people all around! While I am both a beach and hills lover, I try and enjoy every moment I am there. The time being limited, I want to make the most of my trip to a hill station. My journey as a traveller from my childhood till now has been very interesting specially when I see my kids doing certain things the same way I used to do. I strongly feel there are certain things to do in hill stations irrespective of age. So that you enjoy the weather and surroundings nicely, do those activities. I have collated these things by listening to young people , kids and even senior citizens. In case you feel something do be added, do provide comments.

Top 11 things to do in Hill Stations

  1. Take a room facing either a valley view or hills if you are a nature lover. This will always keep you fresh even if you are relaxing in the room and will keep providing the feeling of Bering at a hill station
  2. Walk in fresh air because there is greenery everywhere and no pollution. Also by walking up slopes, heart rate increases that promotes better circulation of blood.
  3. Take sunlight to the maximum as it provides vitamin D while keeping you warm which you can't do generally in busy cities.
