Although there were many things to see at La Vanille Nature Park, I am highlighting top 5 of them.

Top 5 things to see at La Vanille Nature Park

1. Crocodiles

We were welcomed by crocodiles. They all were bathing in the sun and relaxing. There was no single movement by them. It was quiet amazing to see them motionless. You can see the open mouth of the left crocodile, it is appearing like a statue. It caught my attention as to how some living being can be live and motionless simultaneously with an open mouth for long.

Authorities showed us a baby crocodile. My friends even touched it but I didn't.

On the way to Gangtok from Darjeeling

We had heard a lot that from Darjeeling to Gangtok, it take 5-6 hours and the route on the way to Gangtol of course is very beautiful along the river Teesta. Indeed it was true. To be on the safer side, we left Darjeeling around 1pm after visiting the zoo and Indian Mountaineering Institute. Soon, we were out of beautiful pine trees of Darjeeling.

While we exited Darjeeling, we saw tea plantations on the way. Since we had limited time in Darjeeling and hence could not visit any tea gardens, we stopped at that point to enjoy. Cold breeze was blowing and we were all covered with jackets, caps etc.

Soon we were on the highway to Sikkim and it was a mesmerizing view with we following river Teesta all over. Its water was greenish blue flowing between mountains and dried trees, it being February creating a beautiful scenery.
There was a 'Lovers Meet View Point' on the way.
Once you get to the point, you will see the nature's beauty. River Teesta view is hypnotizing from there. One can just stand and stare at the view for hours. Although there are only two-three small vendors selling snacks, but the place is nice and has thge potential to grow big as a view point.

After this view point, we got closer to the river Teesta as we drove.

Himalayan Railway Darjeeling Toy Train

I have always been fascinated by toy trains due to their extremely close proximity to nature or to town in which they travel and also their interiors and service. While enjoying nature's beauty one gets to know about general lifestyle in the town.

I consider myself lucky to have travelled in Toy train to Shimla several times. While planning our trip to Darjeeling, we always had two India movie songs in our minds - 'Mere sapnon ki Rani kab aayegi tu...' and 'Kasto Maza hai railayi Ma...'

1. Interaction with Lions at Casela World of Adventures

From the point in the above photograph, we boarded our bus for Lion Safari. We eagerly waited for our turn for Interactions with Lions.
Viharin.com- Interaction with Lions
I was a bit scared initially but had full faith on authorities. So entered the vicinity of Lions with a little brave heart. Everyone was excited to pat lions at their back. My memory of lifetime arrived when I got to touch the Lion at its back. Wow, such a great feeling it was. I could never ever had imagined I would do something like this. It was a terrific moment. Lion’s fur was very healthy and strong. I felt blessed to have felt the skin of the world’s most powerful animal. I did not even stay there for two minutes. But whatever time I got, it was fulfilling and worth.

My interaction with Lion
Lions were well behaved and tamed. Since these lions grow up with humanism there are more like a family to them and harmless. Two guards are always with visitors to ensure no lapses take place. Guards always carry a stick with them to ensure lions respect them. Sticks are provided to us for same reasons.
