Different states, different fabrics different weaves! See how Indian textile breeds

I was invited to the exhibition ’The Fabric Soiree’ by artist Nehmat Mongia which was held at Le Meridien New Delhi on 23rd January. It was a display of fabrics, weaves and designs.
At the entrance of the hall, there were 21 feet installations of 28 weaves from all over the country- a testimony to the country’s inimitable textile traditions.
I was delighted to see those fabrics, designs and embroidery of those fabulous pieces.

See this beautiful design. It looks so royal.

Have the taste of authentic Indian Mughlai cuisine at Bara Darhi , Westin Gurgaon

When I came to know that  not Westin Gurgaon has recently opened up a restaurant called as Bara Darhi which has authentic Indian cuisine from Purani Dilli of Delhi, I was excited and wanted to taste it right away. Taste of Purani Dilli is less accessible to me specially because of my busy life and also since I live far away from Purani Dilli. Knowing that the authentic taste of Purani Dilli has come directly to Westin Gurgaon was a pleasant news for me. I was eagerly waiting for the evening.
[caption id="attachment_11811" align="alignnone" width="669"] Entrance at Bara Darhi[/caption]

Ambiance of Bara Darhi

It was a pleasant evening. The restaurant is in the open area on the second floor of Story section of Westin Gurgaon.

Heaters were installed all over. Live Kitchen was right in front of us where chefs who had been hired directly from Purani Dilli were preparing dishes like kababs, Mutton seekh, Paneer seekh and more.

There was a central area dedicated to the beverage section.

All around tables were laid where one could have enough space be it for a romantic evening or for a business meeting. The restaurant had a view of Westin Gurgaon which was really nice. I was loving the overall atmosphere of Bara Darhi. There were two musicians who were playing authentic Indian music through special Indian instruments. It was a soothing evening and Indian music was an icing on the cake.

Food

Snacks started off with paneer seekh. It was luscious. One cannot imagine how paneer seekh being so soft can be made in such a way that it doesn’t break and yet gives you a satiating taste while being soft.

Luwak faeces contain better quality coffee

didn’t know that an animal faeces can augment the quality of coffee. Can you imagine? I was surprised to know that. This animal Luwak, Asian name of Civet eats coffee cherries. The pulp is digested by Luwak and coffee beans get fermented inside this animal and their properties are enhanced as some enzymes seep in seeds of coffee. The fermented coffee seeds have multiple health benefits like they are anti bacterial. Luwak coffee keeps your teeth clean and if taken regularly, can help avoid oral cancer, helps in  diabetes, prevents neurological disorders. So yes, Luwak faeces have enhanced coffee beans.
We had gone to a place called ‘I love Bas’.
This place is known for Luwak coffee.
My colleagues tried this coffee and liked it.The Place has a nice ambiance. The whole area was lush green.

Grand Hyatt Bali , a grand destination in itself

We had checked in Grand Hyatt Bali during the evening. That time itself I had got an idea about the magnificence of the property. The property was well lit at night.

Ambiance of Grand Hyatt Bali

There was a huge reception with ponds having fishes. Garden area was around the reception and lobby area.
T
Property had lavish interiors. I had to walk down for five/seven minutes to reach my room. On the way there was a souvenir shop and gardens. There was a swimming pool, gymn, gifts shop.

The hotel was by the beach. Beach was beyond the swimming pool. We spent an hour by the beach gazing at the sky, lights in the sea with cool breeze around. It was a lovely calming experience. I wanted to spend some more time there but time as you know is always short!

There were several floors in the hotel. All floors had an idol of Ganesha. See Indian touch!! I loved to see the idol on all floors. All idols had garlands. The hotel was designed beautifully! There was greenery everywhere.

Witness the association of Hindu legends with that of Bali at Garuda Wisnu Kencana in Bali

Last time when I had visited Bali I saw many similarities between Indian and Bali Hindu culture. I was fascinated by the same as I had never thought that there would be so many commonalities. My curiosity last time was not settled and this time we went to see Garuda Wisnu Kencana in Ungasan Badung in Bali.
I loved the staircase which had a snake like railing.

I was amazed to see how Lord Vishnu , Hanuman and  Garuda were worshipped in a big way. This cultural park is about 240 hectares in area.
There was a 23 m high statue of Lord Vishnu and a massive statue of Garuda who is said to be the Mount of Lord Vishnu.

Unforgettably spellbinding experience of River rafting at Ayung River

River rafting is an experience that everyone must have atleast once in a lifetime. It’s adventurous, most of all safe if you follow all instructions carefully and great fun! I don’t know swimming but I have done river rafting till grade 4. My first River rafting was in Kaudilya village in Rishikesh and in this trip to Bali I had second experience of river rafting at Ayung River. I must say it was a great experience. My apprehensions for river rafting got over in the first river rafting in India itself. In the second river rafting I was raring to go. We did river rafting by Toekad Rafting company.
[caption id="attachment_11629" align="alignnone" width="669"]River Rafting team at Toekad Rafting River Rafting team at Toekad Rafting[/caption]
We got down the stairs which was a lush green area. The atmosphere was full of fresh air.
[caption id="attachment_11631" align="alignnone" width="669"]Walking down the area to reach the river Walking down the area to reach the river[/caption]
We got onto our rafts. Our guide guide was very good and he instructed to us about the rules of the rafting. I saw other rafts that were along with us.
We started off with grades that were low and slowly reached greater rapids. Our guide kept us instructing to row forward or backward to give the water push backward or forward so the raft can move easily.Whenever there was a rapid it used to be huge fun for all people in my raft. While doing river rafting rafting our guide was really happy with our team as we were listening to him carefully and acted at his instructions promptly.
There was lush greenery around the river and there were carvings of Ramayana on the sides of rivers. Our guide told us it took a lot of time for craftsmen to ingrain those carvings and it was beautifully done. I’m sure it would have taken a lot of perseverance, hard work and commitment.
There was a big waterfall on the way. Our guide ensured that we have a good experience of the waterfall and he actually took us exactly right under the fall. Milky water fell on our heads and it was an out of the world experience! I must say although it takes a little bit of guts to go ahead inside the waterfall but I must tell you it’s an experience of the lifetime and an amazing experience.

How Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort amazed me in Bali

After adventurous river rafting, lunch followed by a trip to see Kintamani, we headed for dinner to Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort. The property was in Kuta. As we reached the property, it welcomed us with a unique design!

Ambiance at Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort

The reception was well lit and there were huge silver coloured beautifully designed flowers by the stairs creating a magnetic ambiance.
That was a unique design altogether. I stood gazing the place for a while.

Upstairs was the restaurant ‘The Lounge’. It had a great sophisticated setting. As we headed further, we
saw beautiful designed banquet halls having enormous seating capacity. I liked the shades that were icing on the cake in the ambiance of banquet halls. One thing that generated my curiosity was that the names of halls were on the characters of Ramayana. Like Ram Sita, Hanoman, Bali.
Rooms were rally nice and spacious. They being part of the luxurious property had to be regal. I loved the interiors of rooms.
