The Delhi Daredevils team was in Delhi for their match against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2015. I happened to be a part of a small get together in the evening at J.W.Marriot hotel, Aerocity , to welcome the team.

It was a closed affair with a few selected guests and people from media. As we reached the hotel , we were already on a high to meet our home team members. As we entered the party , we were elated as we saw players around us. They were all in Blue coloured theme with signature Daredevils T shirts. It was an amazing feeling to interact with players. They were quietly enjoying the evening and discussing the game.

Smoked Biryani house is a concept which specializes in the art of cooking appetizing authentic Biryani, based on the city of Nizams: Hyderabad. The kitchen staff comprises renowned chefs who have hands-on experience gained in Hyderabad itself. The restaurant is run by chefs who are very well acquainted with the essence of great food. There are other dishes in the offering which make Smoked Biryani House the perfect place to be.

I got to review this restaurant. Due to lack of time, I had to do a take away. So, I visited the restaurant to get the feel of it and got the meal for two packed.

The restaurant had white walls with chocolate brown furniture giving a feel of old Hyderabadi times. Walls had photographs related to old times. A big wall on the second floor was dedicated to the Nizam of Hyderabad.

Q1.)What is inique about Value Inn? How would it be different to guests to be irresistible as against other brands of same tier?

We bring the resources, distribution system, education, channels and tools to the hotel owners to help them operate successfully. We bring inspiration by individuality. Once I am at a destination, I would love to eat local food at a local restaurants, would love to learn its art, culture and uncover the destination. Trust factor is another key player here. So, guests would know if something goes wrong, they are in good hands. They would get some basic facilities that are a must haves in any Value Inn or Value Hotel on Earth. Plus there are other facilities like frequent traveler points etc.

Sasian Journey's Lotus Bazaar and Sanjha Chulha was held at The Ashok hotel, Delhi. Asian Heritage Foundation’s Jiyo hosted Lotus Bazaar South Asia’s first food exhibition named Sanjha Chulha, curated by Dr. Pushpesh Pant to promote the incredible variety of local and regional cuisines of South Asia showcasing the diversity of culinary along with some of India’s and South Asia’s best design led interventions by leading NGO’s, craft practitioners, designers and artists. Bazaar offered space for direct retail to those selected from all nine South Asian Countries attempting to connect them to the global market.

South Asaian or Sasian Journey gained momentum with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic engagement with the region and his visionary inaugural ceremony. Subsequent visits of respective heads of states underscored the increasing importance of amicable bilateral relationships to ensure regional security, sharing of common values, rule of law, democratic governance and respect for inclusive development.

Cloth exhibition by South Asian countries

We reached in the evening at the event being held at The Ashok, Delhi. It was a huge ground where big food stalls of South Asian countries were exhibited along with other handicrafts stalls from these nine countries. Going further, there were stalls of clothes like suit pieces, coats, stoles, pottery, traditional designs, handicrafts, art, designer accessories etc. These innovative pieces were highly creative and attractive. It was a nice round of exhibition clearly showing the amount of effort put in by the craftsmen and artisans.

We were highly impressed by the exhibition stuff of these nine South Asian countries.It was a beautiful concept to put together.

Dishes of South Asia

Post this round, we had coffee and then was turn to look around for food. We could see food stalls. It was raining and dining area was busy. All dishes were well labelled and we were eager to taste them.

Surprisingly, we came to know about an interaction with Mr. Rajan Loomba, the Chief Executive Chef, The Ashok Hotel who has the overall responsibility of the F&B Production Department and Official Banquets hosted by the Vice President of India & the Honourable PM of India. It was a pleasant surprise. Mr. Rajan Loomba has published high end recipe books from the Ashok Group of Hotels (ITDC) “Royal Recipe Book” , “Ashok Book of favourite Indian Recipes”  and “The Coffee Table Menu Book for The Oudh Restaurant”. Oudh restaurant was started by him in 1995.

He has also presented Food Shows “Zaika ka Safar”, “Lazzat”, etc on several TV Channels:  like ETV, CNEB and CNBC in India. While in Caracas, Venezuela presented a TV show on channel 33 anchored by Mr. Hector Susy a famous food critic and popular TV food program host & was also invited by Chef Sumito (a celebrity Chef in Venezuela) to his radio program where we talked about the Indian Food & Culture and the Indian Food Festival.

An afternoon in Fern Gir Forest Resort, Sasan Gir- Gujarat

In the heart of Sasan Gir is situated Fern Gir Forest Resort, which boasts of being the only five star resort of Gir.

Our experience at Fern Gir Forest Resort

It was an pretty sunny afternoon that we spent in the resort. The theme of resort is based on nature. As we entered the resort, chirping of birds welcomed us. A large open area with a pond and huge lobby with adjacent large pictures of lions and wildlife was there. After a warm welcome at the resort , we headed towards residential complex in the resort. Kids ran freely in the open resort and played with butterflies.

The rooms were neat and clean and all rooms had good view of natural surroundings. We then moved ahead to river view restaurant facing the Hiran river. The view was picturestique. Although the river had dried. It was an awesome experience to dine in at the The Banyan tree restaurant in the resort. The food was remarkable and service impeccable. After this we moved on to a wall depicting history of Asiatic lion. We relaxed in lobby area for a while after that.
